Team Training Run

The Climax Great South Run team gathered at Gunwharf Quays for the first group training run. The intention here is to do a regular Wednesday evening run. Heading out along the sea wall up to the main pier along in Southsea. With many different abilities the plan was to set your own goals and run as far as you can.

I'd set my sights on the pier itself, while the more experienced runners were going a bit further. On the day itself the weather wasn't great, but it wasn't raining - yet.

The first half was a lot harder, I ran off too quickly with the rest of the runners and paid the price later. Had to stop to walk off a painful ankle, once we got to the pier. As I turned to go back, I bumped into the advance party coming back and tagged along with them - they'd slowed down enough by then for me to keep up and that's when the weather closed in. It was windy, in your face and raining. If anything it actually spurred me on and enjoyed the run back much more than the run out.

Afterwards our erstwhile leader treated us all to Pasta and a bottle of wine in Strada which helped the post run recovery no end.
